Purev built a gorgeous 500-sq ft ADU in our back yard in Berkeley. Purev's team was communicative, friendly, and affordable, and did a beautiful job. They are very competent--one of their construction workers is trained as a civil engineer in Mongolia, and often came up with great suggestions for small improvements to the design as they went along. When one of the subcontractors they'd hired turned out to be unreliable, thus delaying the project by a few days, they managed to get him moving again by sheer polite persistence. (And I'm certain they won't be hiring that particular subcontractor again). We felt consistently great about working with this thoughtful, careful, communicative, ethical, and hardworking team. We worked with them during the first year of the pandemic when there were many supply chain issues, and they dealt with these challenges so well—keeping us informed, persisting in getting wood by running around to a bazillion different suppliers, and just making sure that the job got done despite the many challenges of working during such a challenging time. They kept their team and our family safe and got the job done. Also, they are super nice people, just very friendly and kind.

We had a good experience working with Purev General Contracting. The team was skilled, friendly and great partners for building our 800 SF accessory dwelling unit. We encountered some challenging moments (as you inevitably do when you're doing a big construction project) and we were able to work through them thanks to the good communication and problem solving of their team.

I dreamed of this home for five years before I engaged Purev as my builder. My city was challenging to work with, and even though we applied in July 2019, we were not granted a building permit until March 2020. Despite the multiple supply chain and other pandemic-related challenges, Purev and his crew did everything they could to make it happen. The crew was very engaged, delightful to work with and took pride in their work. As I only lived about mile from the site, they were patient with my frequent visits and questions. I know that the pandemic-related delays (material availability and delays in delivery) were certainly not what they or I expected. Even so, communication was easy and frequent. Using text as a primary means of communication during the build allowed ease and documentation of decision making.
I have been in my home since August of 2021, and one of the strengths of Purev's work is their availability to address any questions after finishing the project. I highly recommend Purev General Contracting.

PGC has been a great Builder to work with for our remodel. We contracted for a large expansion out the front and back of our home, which also included a significant amount of improvements to the existing interior. We also chose to live in the unit during the construction. The PGC team built the construction at an incredibly fast pace (much, much faster than most of the other constructions I’ve seen in our area), while maintaining high build quality and remaining within the agreed-upon budget. This is a rare trifecta that many contractors fail to meet. All-in-all, I’ve been quite satisfied with the experience and don’t regret working with PGC.
Since we were living in the unit, we got to see the rapid progress firsthand, and we were able to offer our opinion on decisions and changes mid-process. The team was always friendly and happy to adapt to our preferences when it was possible, and also freely offered their expert advice on their suggested course of action.
There have also been some minor challenges as part of the process, but nothing that was not mitigatable. The team works extremely fast: this sometimes meant that they wanted to work on an occupied portion of the house or make a key decision with only a day or two notice, which was a bit hectic for us. At other times, they discussed working on one area but then pivoted to work on something else. This shouldn’t be a problem for projects that are not occupied at the time of construction, but for those that are I would suggest future clients maintain active communication with the team on their roadmap of activities. Another area to note is that most of the team are not native English speakers. They are quite experienced and competent, but it is worth a client putting in the extra time to ensure that all parties are in full agreement. All that being said, I would be happy to work with PGC again next time we have a project.
